Ryan Barry — former college pitcher at the University of Tampa — built Prospects Universe after living the recruiting process himself and seeing how many talented players were getting overlooked.
Ryan Barry is the founder of Prospects Universe and a former college pitcher at the University of Tampa. He created Prospects Universe after experiencing firsthand how difficult it was to balance recruiting, school, and training — and watching talented players get overlooked simply because they didn't have the right connections or exposure.
His story is proof of concept. As a high school sophomore, Ryan had zero recruiting interest. He weighed 145 pounds and threw 74 mph. Through relentless training and a system he built himself, he increased his velocity to 86 mph by his junior summer — a 12 mph gain — and eventually earned his spot as a college pitcher at the University of Tampa.
At UTampa, Ryan majored in Business Information Technology and channeled his business knowledge and baseball experience into building the most comprehensive recruiting platform in college baseball. What started as a service for a few players quickly grew into a company that has now helped 200+ players find their programs across D1, D2, D3, JUCO, and NAIA.
We believe talent alone isn't enough. The recruiting process is broken — coaches don't always find the best players, they find the most visible ones. Prospects Universe exists to fix that by giving every player the connections, exposure, and tools to get seen.
Ryan Barry was a 145-pound sophomore throwing 74 mph with no offers and no recruiting interest. Most people in that position accept it and move on. Ryan didn't.
Ryan committed to a training system he built himself — baseball-specific strength, velocity work, and relentless improvement. He gained 12 mph, reaching 86 mph by his junior summer.
With his new velocity and the right recruiting exposure, Ryan connected with the University of Tampa — a competitive D2 program — and earned his place on the roster.
While studying Business Information Technology at UTampa, Ryan founded Prospects Universe — combining his recruiting experience, baseball knowledge, and business skills to build something no one else had.
What started as helping a few players has grown into a company with 33K+ Instagram followers, 4,000+ verified coach contacts, and 200+ players committed to programs at every level.
Ryan's goal is simple: make sure no talented player gets overlooked because they didn't have the right connections. Every player deserves a shot. Prospects Universe makes sure they get one.
We don't hide behind email blasts. Real recruiting is done through real relationships — phone calls, trust, and coaches who know who we are when we reach out.
We measure success in one way: commitments. Not impressions, not emails sent, not social media reach. Every decision we make is oriented toward getting players committed.
We don't push players toward the first program that shows interest. We work until the player finds a school that fits them athletically, academically, and personally.
Our 4,000+ coach database is a tech product. But the warm introductions, the phone calls, the strategy — that's human. We combine both to give players a real advantage.
From a $37/month database to a $1,539 full-service package — we built tiers specifically so that budget never has to be the reason a player doesn't get help.
Everything we do is filtered through the experience of a player who lived this process. We know what it feels like to be overlooked — and we know how to fix it.
